Failed in the Senate Internet and Technology Committee 2026-05-21 (2 aye, 4 nay, 1 aye with reservations); A3946 has not left the Assembly Consumer Affairs and Protection Committee.
- S8102B (similar: A8893). Device-level age assurance: operating system providers would determine a user's age category at device activation and send an encrypted age signal to apps on request; attorney general enforcement up to $10,000 per violation. Not specific to adult sites. A8893 would put a similar duty on device manufacturers. Amended and recommitted to Senate Consumer Protection (print 8102A on 2026-02-25, 8102B on 2026-05-15); A8893 re-referred to Assembly Consumer Affairs and Protection 2026-01-07; no floor action.
